
Photography fascinates me. What fascinates me even more than the subjects and their images are the men and women behind the camera. Why do they capture those images? What significance do the images hold for them?
More importantly, what were they feeling when they realized they must shoot?
Alfred Eisenstaedt. He it was took this photograph, long famous and subject of a controversy over whether or not it had been 'staged'.

That is unimportant. What is important is that he also took the picture above, some eleven years before in a dance school run by the Third Reich.
How did he feel about this? This change in subject matter, one that might have been very chaotic and painful for him to face? He might have done interviews, but one never really says what they really feel.
